Twenty years ago, the audience for the arts – film, literature music, paintings, and so on – had to wait for a release date, viewing time and specific viewing location.
These days, we can view or listen to whatever we want, whenever we want, via our devices. It is now an expectation of viewers.
In some ways this has been freeing for creators. With an online presence, we can share our creative work as completed. It can be a satisfying experience for the audience to be notified personally, via email or on socials, with a virtual version of seeing newly completed works in an artist's studio – an experience that was, previously, only available to a select few.
