When I was a child, every adult desk had a business card organizer. Regardless of whether the desk surface was neat and sparse or overflowing with books, photos and messy stacks of paper, the box of business cards could be easily found.

These days our contact details are ephemeral. We swap email addresses or Instagram handles and occasionally phone numbers via text. Contact information is scattered across different apps and digital devices. They can easily be accidentally deleted or replaced or stuck in a device we should have upgraded sooner. Our digital address books can be leaked via data breach or accessed by various apps.

Data security aside, a carefully designed and well printed business card is an opportunity to transition smoothly from online to IRL – in real life.
